CONTROVERSIES OVER ORKUT

In recent days I have heard the name of ORKUT every where from Newspaper to Television and from tennagers who use it and from the debates which come on television. The name recently highlighted when Shiv Sanik’s notice a person in a cyber café searching a community over orkut which was against their role model SHIVAJI and Bala Sahab Thackrey. Shiv sanik’s get annoyed and shatter that computer with a little damage to the cyber café now shiv sanik’s are demanding ban on the orkut.One more case come into the light of Mumbai crime cell under cyber act under which a women logged an FIR against a person who illegally use her photograph and now blackmailing her for money. The whole incident was also telecasted on AAJ TAK television in its special program named as “VISHESH” dated 10 june on nine thirty in evening. In that program that women was interviewed where she enlighten the whole incident, her face was intentionally not visible to the viewers she start telling that she was in Mumbai from some time and she was struggling as a writer her aim was to make a documentary on “COMPUTER HACKING” in order to get some realistic content she find out a person while chatting who was a professional Hacker. They chat several times on ORKUT through which they came to know many things about each other. That women was very much impressed with that person because he tell her the technique that how he hack the passwords of other persons accounts and many other things ,since their relation now become more firm and stronger as the time moves on .One day that women tell him her original name and send him a photograph that was the day from which the problem never ended for that women as now she start getting threatening calls and message in which he demands money from her and if she did not give then he will post those porn video clips to websites which he had made just of one “PHOTOGRAPH OF HER”.
The person calls himself as of pakistani origin which is written in his profile and recently he is working in Newyork. The problem like these on orkut are in a vast amount and the biggest problem is that Cyber rules in India are so weak that they can not solve these problems on time.But instead of all these crimes on orkut it is a favorite thing for young generation and the reasons they give for this is that they can find their old school friends over their now there is no boundation of distance for talking or remaining in contact. Now boys and girls can easily find their dates by speed chatting and instead of all these things there are also some really nice things as every person on orkut have freedom of expression anybody can join a community and express their views whether it is about corruption in the politics or spreading awareness about AIDS . orkut is proving to be a very strong tool to change Scenario of our society but the thing which must be kept in the mind is that with the good use of this technology there are several thigs which proves harmful for society .So, it is now the responsibility of government to take some steps to prevent misuse of this and we must also support government so that this Technology can be used safely.
